Vasily Polushin

Winner of the 3rd prize at the All-Union ballet contest in Moscow (1984).

On graduation from the Perm School of Choreography Vasily Polushin was invited to the Perm Theater of Opera and Ballet as a principal dancer. After a year’s work there he was invited as a leading soloist to the Krasnoyarsk Theater of Opera and Ballet. At the opening of the theatre Vasily Polushin performed the leading role in “Swan Lake”. During his work at the Krasnoyarsk Theater of Opera and Ballet he performed leading roles in major classical ballets (21 productions), as well as in concert performances. In the year 1985 Vasily Polushin performed the role of Albert in “Giselle” at the stage of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow at the invitation of Yuri Grigorovich.

Vasily Polushin took part in the international tours of Russian ballet stars where his partners were N. Pavlova, L. Semenyaka, and L. Kunakova.

With his constant partner and wife Natalya Chekhovskaya (People’s Artist of Russia) Vasily Polushin collaborates with best ballet companies in Russia, such as “Russian Ballet” (director V. Gordeev), Kremlin Ballet, Russian Chamber Ballet “Moscow”. Currently he is the principal dancer and teacher at Russian Chamber Ballet “Moscow”.

Since 1987 Vasily Polushin has conducted a number of master-classes at the State School of Ballet in Japan.

Natalya Chekhovskaya and Vasily Polushin have one daughter Ulyana.

On graduation from Alma-Ata School of Choreography Natalya Chekhovskaya was invited as a principal dancer to the Krasnoyarsk Theater of Opera and Ballet. At the opening of the theatre she performed the principal role of Giselle in “Giselle”. In 1985 she danced Giselle on the stage of the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow at the invitation of Yuri Grigorovich.

While being a prima at the Krasnoyarsk Theater of Opera and Ballet Natalya Chekhovskaya performed more than 20 roles. The repertory of Natalya Chekhovskaya includes the major principal roles in classical ballets (“La Bayadere”, “Swan Lake”, “Ruslan and Ludmila”, “Sleeping Beauty”, “Pakhita”, “Nutcracker”, “Don Quixote”, “Notre Dame de Paris” and a great number of others).

Natalya Chekhovskaya was invited to take part in international tours of Russian ballet stars. Her partners were V. Gordeev, A. Bogatyrev, V. Lantarov, A. Kondratov. Her constant partner on stage and in life is Vasily Polushin.

Natalya Chekhovskaya and Vasily Polushin have been collaborating as invited soloists with many glorious ballet companies in Russia: “Russian Ballet” (director V. Gordeev), Kremlin Ballet, Russian Chamber Ballet “Moscow”. Currently she is the principal dancer and teacher at Russian Chamber Ballet “Moscow”.

Since 2001 Natalya Chekhovskaya has been the Artistic director of her ballet school “Nutcracker” in Moscow.

Natalya Chekhovskaya is perhaps the only star of Russian ballet who successfully combines sparkling stage career with active social and political life. In 1980 ballerina Natalya Chekhovskaya was elected a deputy to Krasnoyarsk Regional Soviet of People’s Deputies.

From 1996 to 2000 Natalya Chekhovskaya was a deputy of the State Duma of Russian Federation and a member of the Cultural Committee of the State Duma.

In 2009 Natalya Chekhovskaya graduated from Nesterova Academy in Moscow with the speciality “pedagogics and choreography”.

Natalya Chekhovskaya and Vasily Polushin have one daughter Ulyana.



 

Anzhelika Tagirova
Callipateira (Mother)

A Beautiful Woman and a Superb Classical Ballet Dancer
but more importantly a Wonderful Person

Triumph and Tragedy

Anzhelika Tagirova was born in Ufa on Aug 16, 1974 to an artistic family. Her mother Roza Sultanovna Tagirova was a leading aerial acrobat, and her father Viktor Mikhailovich Subbotin was a leading heavyweight acrobat at the Moscow State Circus.

In 1993 Anzhelika graduated with excellent grades from the Ufa choreographic college which was named after Rudolf Nureyev. Upon graduation she was invited as a solo dancer to the company “Russian Ballet Seasons” led by A. Prokofiev.

Anzhelika was a Laureate of numerous International ballet contests: Laureate of the International ballet contest “Arabesque” 1992; Laureate III Premium of the International ballet contest “Arabesque” 1994; Laureate II Premium of the International ballet contest “Quandgu Korea” 1995.

Since 1994 she was the leading solo dancer at the company “Russian Ballet” under the artistic `direction of V. Gordeev. She performed leading and solo roles in many classical ballets: “Sleeping Beauty” (Aurora); “Don Quixote” (Kitri); “Nutcracker” (Masha); Coppelia (Swanilda); Cinderella (Cinderella); “Anyuta” (Anyuta); “Swan Lake.”

Anzhelika toured a great deal with the company “Russian Ballet” and danced at leading stages of the world with enormous success.

In December 2002 Anzhelika performed beautifully as a leading principal dancer in the role of Callipateira in the World Premiere of “Pater Olympian” in Moscow.

On March 18, 2005 a severe illness took the life of this remarkable ballerina. Her death remains an irreparable loss for her family and friends, for Russian ballet and for the numerous admirers of her talent. The memory of Anzhelika Tagirova will be forever kept in our hearts.



 

Maksim Gerasimov
Dorieus (Son)

Maksim Gerasimov was born on March 13, 1979 to an artistic family.

He joined the Moscow State Academy of Choreography in 1989.

Upon graduation in 1998 he was invited to the theatre “State Academic Theatre of Classical Ballet” of Kasatkina and Vassilyov. On becoming a solo dancer he performed leading and solo roles in the repertoire ballets of the theatre such as Tibald (Romeo and Juliett), Rotbart (Swan Lake), Prince (Nutcracker), Devil (Creation of the world), Hans (Giselle).

In 2002 he was invited to the American project “Pater Olympian” at which he met a remarkable man – the author of the project Robert Hoffman.

Maksim Gerasimov says:”I think this project has changed my life. Besides meeting remarkable people such as Bob Hoffman, Linda Hoffman, Elena Rudneva, Phyllis Latin and many others, it made it possible to implement into life a most interesting concept of Bob Hoffman about the rivalry of the Father and the Son through incompatible choreography of Phyllis Latin. This cooperation promoted my serious professional growth!” Alexandra Lesina, the wife of Maksim Gerasimov, is a leading dancer of “State Academic theatre of Classical Ballet” of Kasatkina and Vassilyov. She has taken part in the project “Pater Olympian” with her support and her professional advice to Maksim when he worked at his role.

In 2008 Maksim Gerasimov and his wife Alexandra Lesina became laureates of the International ballet contest in Tokyo (Japan).

Unfortunately due to a severe trauma in 2008 Maksim ended his career as a ballet dancer. In 2009 Maksim graduated from the Moscow Academy of Education with the diploma of a Teacher and Choreographer. For two years Maksim has been a successful Manager of the Sales Department in a prominent Russian Insurance company "Росгосстрах-Жизнь."

After graduating from Kiev choreography college (teacher -V.Parsigov) V.Breusenko was invited as soloist by Academic Theatre Of Opera And Ballet in Kharkov. In 1990-1995 he was a soloist of theatrical studio “Seasons of Russian Ballet” under the leadership of A. Prokofyev.

In 1995 V. Breusenko became a solo dancer of ballet company of Moscow Academic Musical Theatre of K.C.Stanislavskogo and Vl. I. Nemerovicha-Danchenko.

He danced the leading and solo parts in ballets: ”The Holly Spring”, “Nutcracker”, “Carnival In Venice”, “Zhizele”, “Don Kikhoti”, “Romeo And Juliet”, “Corsaire”, “The Swan Lake”, “Raimonda”, “Konyok-Gorbunok”, “Butterfly”,”Cinderella”, “Valpurgiev’s Night”.

Also V.Breusenko danced at Bolshoi Theatre and with the Russian Imperial Ballet Company. He participated in Russian and international ballet festivals, performed in Europe and Asia, in USA, Latin America, New Zealand, Australia. His partners were Maya Plisetskaya, Ilze Liepa, Nadezhda Pavlova, Natalya Ledovskaya, Marina Rizhkina. In 1996 he acted in TV film “Porgi And Bess” (production of M.L.Lavroskiy, role of Sporting Life).

He worked in Malaysia (1996) and Brasilia (2000) as an invited teacher.

Since 2002 Vitaly has been a leading dancer and teacher at the company “Arizona Ballet” in Phoenix, Arizona.

He is married and has two daughters.
